Commission for :iconsonichdghog:. An illustration for his TT fan fic, "Nights of Venom". Read the first chapter here: [link] !

His idea was to recreate the Star Wars: Return of the Jedi poster (pic for reference) but with the Titans replacing the main characters. In the place of Jabba the Hutt and his minions from the original poster I drew Red X fighting Black Viper (*SonicHdghog's original character).

This was the most fun I've had with a commission in ages, I hope it shows in the final result. :) I had been dying to try out some tricks I'd learned for creating glowy effects and this presented the perfect opportunity. It was also the first time I'd really tried drawing an explosion, it was a bit of a challenge to work out the lighting and shading, but I think I learned a lot in the process. The idea itself was fun too, I love making mock-movie posters where the ties to the original are obvious yet creative.

The stars in the background were created using the brush set by ~Rabieshund.

You make Slade look like the menacing villain he appears to be in this series, but I'm sure true followers of DC always have that awkward moment when they realize Slade was attacking the Titans only because his kids were being threatened and would have otherwise left them alone.

Wasn't Slade originally a mercenary? He would attack anyone as long as it was in the contract, nothing personal.
